Birthdays and Honesty

Now that is a serious candle blower... must have been a really important wish!

We took the family to Baltimore this weekend to celebrate Ella's birthday. It's one of our favorite places to go and we hadn't been there with the kids yet. We went to the aquarium, walked around Inner Harbor and stayed overnight. It was a great time for our family. Ella said "thank you mommy" all day long, Owen said "dog" when we saw the sharks, and Makenna seemed to have fun... or so I thought.

Tonight at dinner Makenna says to me, "Mom, there were seriously times yesterday when Ella was just getting so much of the attention that I just wanted the day to be over."

"Well, it was her birthday Makenna...."

What a proud mother moment I had - hey we are all self-centered at the core but it really takes guts to just put it out there! At least she can be honest about her feelings!

Owen just enjoyed the box that Ella's present arrived in... thanks Aunt Sarah for hours of fun and confinement!
