So I convinced Scott to build me a second raised bed garden this year. Since I had the genetically altered zucchini plant that took over last year, I needed more room! I am so excited for the start of gardening season. Just finished getting all the veggies in the ground.
If you are thinking of starting your own, I highly recommend an awesome book The Vegetable Gardener's Bible to get started. Raised beds are the way to go if you have rocky soil or if you want to keep your garden "contained" and looking a little neater in the backyard.
I still need to plant the marigolds around the base of the garden. They act as a natural deterent to varmits - and we have a lot of those in the field behind our yard (fox, deer, wild turkey, vultures, and bunnies!).
I am super excited about our berries that we planted last year. They have tripled in size so hopefully there will be lots of blue, black and red berries this year! So much cheaper than the grocery store.
Here is my little gardening buddy who "helped" plant the beans... I have a feeling we will be seeing some sprouts in unusual places:) He loves to dig in the dirt and look for worms.
