Food Revolution

If you don't have kids, you may not realize that every aisle of the grocery store is a marketing nightmare.  You can't walk five feet without seeing Dora soup (with 500 g of sodium), SpongeBob Cheezits (hydrogenated oils), Cars "fruit" snacks (high fructose corn syrup) and Toy Story white bread (enriched flour).
It's simply exhausting.  It's hard enough to keep a family of five happy at the dinner table.  Trying to cook healthy meals begins in the store.  I go in with the best of intentions... fruits, veggies, yogurt, beans... but three aisles into the trip I have already said no to a multitude of items that have caught the eye of my three year old. (because they are filled with crap and chemicals!)

Eventually he wears me down and the crap goes into the cart to stop the incessant requests.  But alas, there just continues to be more enticing items in the aisles to come so the begging continues.

On one particular day I put my foot down by the time we got to dairy and I held strong to my conviction with the high sugar & artifically colored cartoon yogurt.

::EPIC TANTRUM::

The ironic thing is that Owen is a very good eater.  But it's just impossible for the little guy to not be tempted by his favorite characters... it's not even about the food!

How about a little Batman broccoli to help a mom out!

Oh, I soooooo know what you are talking about. I sometimes cannot believe what I let my kids talk me into buying. I try to stick with Trader Joe's. They don't use any artificial food colorings at least.
