Yesterday at the girl's piano recital, one of the students played the song "Finlandia".  Who knew that was the alternative title for the hymn from the 1700's, "Be Still My Soul"?  It was beautiful... and the inspiration for my 10th verse.

My soul, wait silently for God alone.  For my expectation is from Him.  Psalm 62:5 (NKJ)

Here are the words to the first verse of the hymn written over 200 years ago... I wonder what the situation was that caused the writer to pen these lyrics. 

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.

Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.

Leave to thy God to order and provide;

In every change, He faithful will remain.

Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend

Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Florida Part 1 and May Verse

Took a little blogging hiatus... for a much needed post tax season family vacation!  We had a wonderful week in Florida with Scott's parents outside of Ft. Myers.  The weather was AMAZING every single day.  We packed the week with lots of great events, although the kids probably had the best time just playing games with their grandparents and swimming in their pool.

Here is a glimpse of our week (part 1 - too many pics for one post!)

 We went to a minor league baseball game - the Charlotte Stone Crabs.  It was the perfect night for a game and lots of action on the field.  FUN!  Owen even got one of the practice balls.

We headed to Siesta Keys Beach for the day.  The widest beach I have ever seen with the whitest, softest sand.  Then we realized that it was Owen's FIRST time at the beach!  How did this happen when we live less than 2 hours from the coast??  Oh well... as you can see he LOVED it and had no problem jumping right in.

 Poor kid didn't know what he was suppose to do in the sand so he tried making "snow angels"...#longwinter!

We went to Fisherman's Village and had a nice dinner on the water at Harpoon Harry's.  Another beautiful night!  We stopped on the way home to watch the sunset over the Gulf.

And that was just the first part of the week!

Here is my May 1st scripture memory.  They are starting to add up and I am not even half way.  Enjoying the process, but it's more of a challege than I thought it would be.

March 1st and still plugging away at the resolutions...  I am considering adding another one but I am not sure that I want to state it publically because then I have to be accountable for it - haha!

I am actually posting my verses for March 1st and 15th because they go together.

Scripture Memory

One of my goals for this year is to participate in Beth Moore's scripture memory challenge.  The more I type them, the better I will learn them so I am posting my first two "picks".

Jan. 1: Isaiah 26:3 (New International Version, ©2010)  You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
Jan. 15:  Proverbs 14:30 (New International Version, ©2010) A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.

Also two women in the "blogging world" are in need of prayer.  It's funny how you feel like you know someone that you've never met other that by reading their blog.  The first is Edie of Life in Grace - their house burned to the ground a few days before Christmas.  The second is Joanne of Simple Wife who suffered a stroke last week.  She is in a coma with swelling on the brain... 38yrs. old with two young girls.  One has lost all earthly things and the other has lost health, but neither has lost their faith.
